The company is based in San Sebastian, Spain; a centre for hi-tech medical companies and with ready access to ancillary manufacturing companies and highly educated personnel. The company has 110 employees and supplies product to over 40 countries worldwide, They have a 72% market share for TPN bags in the Spanish market and a presence in 98% of Spanish hospitals.
The facility incorporates a product design department and sterile product manufacture within a 1100 square metre clean room.
The Clean Room
The clean room uses the latest automated robotic assembly equipment as well as a unique ‘vertical’ component and sub-assembly system which delivers sterile components direct to the manufacturing area.
Testing
All products are 100% tested for integrity before sterilisation by EtO. An in-house test department carries out routine sample product tests and sterile facility checks.
Environmental
Bexen Medical are aware of the market necessity for single use plastic medical products and constantly look for ways to mitigate the environmental impact. Initiatives include offering TPN bags in multipack configurations to minimise packaging materials and reducing spray sterilisation requirements in the pharmacy aseptic unit.
Solar Panels
Bexen Medical has taken advantage of their location in Southern Europe to install a large solar panel array, which has resulted in a reduction of 21% in electrical energy use, sufficient to power the entire clean room.
